???????? I Spy Matching Game: Toy Edition!
???? Objective:
Children practice observation, language, and memory by matching objects based on clues. You can play with toy animals, vehicles, shapes, blocks, or any themed toys you have on hand!

???? What You Need:
A collection of small toys or play pieces (10–20 works well)
A play mat, tray, or rug to display them
Optional: a cloth or box to hide items under
▶️ How to Play:
???? Version 1: Classic Eye Spy
Lay out all the toys in front of the children.
Say:
“I spy with my little eye… something that is brown and has horns!”
Children scan the toys and point to the match.
You can take turns giving clues — let children come up with their own too!
????️ Tip: Start with simple clues (colour, size, shape), then progress to more complex ones (function, features, texture).
???? Version 2: Matching Pairs
Hide one toy from each pair behind your back or under a cloth.
Lay out the remaining toys on the mat.
Give clues about the hidden toy:
“I’m holding something that lives on a farm and says ‘baa’.”
Children try to find its match in the visible toys.
Once they guess, show the hidden toy and check if it matches!
???? Version 3: Sound & Feel
Place a toy in a bag or behind your back.
Give clues using sound or touch:
“I feel something with wings.”
or
[Make a sound] “Nee Naw Nee Naw!” What do you think it is?”
Let kids guess and match from the toy collection.
???? Encourage Questions Like:
What does it do?
Where does it live?
How does it feel?
What is it made from?
Have you seen one in real life?
???? End the Game With:
Sorting the toys by category (animals, transport, food, etc.)
Creating a story using the toys you spied
Drawing your favourite “I Spy” object
