First Nation Learning

Introduce children to Indigenous culture, language, and history through hands-on, imaginative play. First Nation Learning supports storytelling, role-play, and cultural understanding while encouraging confidence, curiosity, and inclusion.

What’s Included:

Indigenous Matching Pairs

Designed in collaboration with award-winning Aboriginal artist De Greer-Yindimincarlie, each disc contains an Indigenous symbol such as meeting place, waterhole and rainbow just to name a few. These discs are a great toy to learn about the Indigenous culture, opening discussions around the traditional Australian landowners, as well as a fun game of matching pairs. A fun way to introduce Indigenous symbols while encouraging children to feel positive and confident while they learn through play.

Indigenous Bush Tucker

This Australian themed set will take children to an imaginary trip to Australia while learning about the Indigenous culture. This set depicts traditional foods such as bush bananas, witchetty grubs and green ants, just to name a few. A fantastic toy to aid and encourage role-playing while opening conversations about Australia’s traditional landowners and the Indigenous culture. Learning through play encourages children to learn, develop and grow while having fun! Images are printed using non-toxic heat transfer technology and sealed with a clear matt varnish to ensure they last for years to come!

Indigenous Wooden Family (6 Pieces)
This Indigenous wooden family of 6 is a great resource to encourage role-playing while learning about Aboriginal culture. This wooden toy set is a fun way to introduce diversity and inclusion while encouraging children to feel positive and confident while they learn through open-ended play.

Languages of Our Nation (26 Pieces)

Learning First Nations languages supports First Nations and non-first Nation students to develop a strong sense of identity, pride and self-esteem that strengthens wellbeing and engagement.

First Nations language programs build respect for First Nations histories, cultures, people, knowledge and experiences amongst students and their families, school staff, and the broader community.

There are numerous First Nations languages and dialects, many of which are endangered.

An endangered language is one that is at risk of falling out of use, generally because it has few surviving speakers. If it loses all of its native speakers, it becomes an extinct language.

In Australia there are more than 250 Indigenous languages including around 800 dialects. Languages are living things that connect people to Country, culture and ancestors. We have chosen to represent languages throughout Australia.

We have used approved words for sharing and been in consultation with First Nations Land Councils.

Freckled Frog acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters, and special acknowledgment to the custodians of the languages that we have used on our blocks, Tiwi, Pintupi, Gudjal, Noongar, Bunganditj, Awabakal.
